Prominent community leaders are set to gather before the students, attendees and participants of the Harassment Prevention Program that will be hosted by The University of Guam Public Administration and Legal Studies (UOG-PALS) program.
The workshop presentation will take place on Wednesday, October 21st, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Room #129 of the Jesus & Eugenia Leon Guerrero Business and Public Administration Building at the UOG, where refreshments and light drink awaits the student attendees.
Attorney General Elizabeth Barret-Anderson will be leading the workshop program discussion by covering the Civil Rights act of 1964, the government regulations and ruling with respect to harassment-related incidents and other definition or form of the malicious intent of harassment.
The main purpose of the presentation of the harassment prevention program is to deliberately increase public awareness most especially among the university students by providing them with valuable information from professional studies to distinguish harassment and its other forms and to have a prompt and appropriate response to it.
“The outcome we hope to achieve from this workshop is creating awareness among our students to help them identify and prepare to respond to harassment situations in their professional and personal lives,” said Dr. Annette Taijeron Santos, Dean of the School of Business and Public Administration.
The event was made possible by the solid and continuous commitment of the University of Guam Public Administration and Legal Studies (UOG-PALS) through the efforts of the PA 304 Public Information class on its aim of having a harassment-free campus.
Senator Benjamin Cruz of the Guam’s legislature will also be there as the workshop programs vice speaker, to discuss the ordeals associated by and with different harassment situations. Procedures and processes in investigating/resolving harassment cases on the other hand will be shared by the University of Guam’s very own assistant professor Atty. Ronald Aguon of the School of Business & Public Administration.
Other Speakers are Associate Professor Dr. Ron McNinch, Associate Professor Dr. Ansito Walter, and Assistant Professor Dr. John Rivera who will present learning, considerations, and avoidance of any harassment related incidents. Capping the harassment prevention program discussion are the representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation with their department response techniques in dealing with the many forms of harassment.
Light drinks and refreshments will be served to all students and attendees for free.
This event is free and sponsored by UOG PALS, PA 304 Public Information class on a “first come first served” basis due to limited seating capacity and space of the venue. Interested parties are advised to come early to get a slot before the start of the harassment prevention program.
